Irresponsible Author Advice

I’ve seen a lot of writing advice out there that sounds very sure of itself. Things like “Never do this” or “Always do that” are pretty common in the writing community.
Advice is great when it helps, but a lot of it forgets that writers have their own styles and goals. Writing is a personal, creative process. There are no one-size-fits-all rules.
Or maybe I just like being a rule breaker? For the sake of argument, let’s say that’s only part of the problem.
So much advice is unsolicited. It can sound so authoritative that we forget to question it. But every rule has exceptions, and there is always a book or two out there that breaks it beautifully.
That’s why I made this small collection of Irresponsible Author Advice social media posts. They’re meant to be playful and a little ridiculous, but my overall goal is to encourage writers to question writing rules and make choices that fit them.
And now, onto a disclaimer!
Disclaimer: Don’t take advice from irresponsible authors like me (always analyze it first).
